Tip of the Week
Growth is a Process, Not a Destination 🌱
Podcasting is all about growth—whether you're launching your first episode or scaling your show to reach new heights. Every small step you take matters, from refining your content to engaging your listeners. Here’s how you can embrace growth at every stage:
Start Where You Are: Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. Whether it’s upgrading your mic or tweaking your format, growth is about progress, not perfection.
Celebrate the Small Wins: Did you hit your first 20 episodes? Did you get your first piece of feedback? Every milestone, big or small, is worth celebrating. They’re proof that your show is resonating.
Keep Evolving: Podcasting is a continuous journey. As you learn more about your audience and your craft, be open to evolving your format, content, or style. Growth is ongoing, and the more adaptable you are, the better.
Pro Tip: Growth happens when you focus on both the content and the connection. For more on how to build better connections with your audience, check out our episode, Building Loyal Listeners with Jaryd Krause.
My Podcasting Journey From Behind the Scenes to the Mic
I started my podcasting journey as a podcast producer, working behind the scenes to help others bring their ideas to life. I loved shaping content and crafting shows that resonated with audiences. But over time, I realised I had more to give, and the idea of hosting my own show began to grow.
Eventually, I took the leap behind the mic as a host. While it was exciting, it wasn’t without its challenges—especially imposter syndrome.
That nagging feeling that maybe I wasn’t cut out for this? I felt it deeply. But here’s what I’m learning: imposter syndrome isn’t a sign of failure—it’s a sign you’re growing. Each time I felt out of my depth, it meant I was stepping into new, uncharted territory.
Rather than seeing it as a barrier, I now reframe imposter syndrome as a sign of progress. Discomfort means I am pushing boundaries, and stepping into bigger shoes.
Hosting success certainly didn’t happen overnight. Finding my voice and owning my message is taking time, but also proving to be the most rewarding part of my journey. Hosting is connecting me more deeply with my community, leading to incredible guest interviews, and allowing me to share insights I’ve gained in the podcasting world.
If you’re producing, hosting, or just starting out, and you feel that self-doubt creeping in, remember: it’s a sign of growth. Embrace it. Every step—big or small—is moving you forward. Keep pushing those boundaries to make an impact.
Podcasting is all about growth, and your voice is more powerful than you think.
